Markshift Privacy Policy

The short version: Markshift does not collect, transmit or store any personal data. The app makes no network connections of any kind. Your documents never leave your Mac.

Effective 16 September 2026

What the app does with your files

Documents you open are read on your device, converted on your device, and written back to a location you choose. Nothing is uploaded, and no copy is sent anywhere.

The app can only read documents you select yourself, through the file panel or by dragging them onto the window. It runs in Apple’s App Sandbox with permission for user-selected files only, and cannot reach any other part of your disk.

Text recognition on scanned pages and images uses Apple’s Vision framework, which runs entirely on your Mac. No image or text is sent to any service for recognition.

Token counting is arithmetic performed locally against data files included in the app. Despite the app being built to help you prepare documents for AI tools, it does not contact any AI service, and none of your text is shared with one.

What is stored on your device

  • Your conversion preferences, saved using standard macOS settings storage.
  • Temporary working copies of large conversion results, kept in the system temporary folder while the app is open and removed when the result is cleared or the app quits.

Neither leaves your Mac, and neither is readable by anyone else.

What the app does not have

  • No accounts and no sign-in
  • No analytics, telemetry or crash reporting
  • No advertising and no advertising identifiers
  • No tracking, and no data shared with third parties
  • No network permission at all

Children

The app collects no data from anyone, including children under 13.

Changes

If this policy changes, the revised version will be published on this page with a new effective date. Since the app collects nothing, any change would relate to features not yet built.
