Common questions

Do I need an account?

No. Colour Studio works without an account, and your learning records stay on your device.

How do I back up my work or move it to another device?

Open Settings and use backup and restore to save a backup file and bring it back later. A backup contains all of the app’s records, including any evidence photos, so keep it somewhere private.

To see your progress on your other devices, turn on iCloud sync in Settings. It syncs your journey progress, Notebook, Play artworks, review schedules, palettes, specifications, the paper box, puzzle answers and endless-room progress through your own iCloud account. Evidence photos, predictions, feedback notes and pilot records are not synced.

How do I start over?

Settings › Reset all progress removes every record from your device, and from iCloud if sync was on. Export a backup first if you might want your work back.

Why don’t I see the Studio Critic?

The Studio Critic uses Apple Intelligence on your device. It needs a supported device running iOS 26 or later, with Apple Intelligence turned on. Every exercise works without it.

Why do colours look different on another screen?

Displays vary, and True Tone changes your screen’s white point in a way no app can control. Run the display check in Settings before colour-sensitive exercises.

For print, your screen is not the standard. The press estimate shows the direction and rough size of a change. It is not an ICC profile and should not be used to approve production colour.

Can the camera measure the colour of a material?

No. The camera sees colour after the light, the lens, the sensor, white balance and image processing have all changed it. It is not a spectrometer, and the camera lesson explains why. Camera frames are analysed live and are not saved.

How do I use Colour Studio with a class?

Settings › Classroom makes colourstudio:// links and QR codes that open any screen and can carry a cohort code. Projector mode shows only the plate on a TV or projector. Learners join a classroom pilot only after reading a consent screen and entering the cohort code, and their record uses a random participant code, not a name.

Which palette formats can I export?

Procreate, Adobe (ASE), GIMP and CSS, plus a Colour Studio palette file you can AirDrop to another device that has the app.

How do I turn off suggestions?

Suggestions from what I do is off unless you turn it on, in setup or in Settings. Turning it off stops new entries, and Forget everything noticed deletes the log at once. You can also mark any suggestion as wrong in What Colour Studio noticed.

How do I turn off review reminders?

In Colour Studio’s Settings, or in iOS Settings.
