Kachik Android Privacy

For Android 3.0 · build 27. Updated 27 October 2026.

Scope and summary

This policy covers Kachik for Android 3.0 (build 27), the development APK linked from this website. The iPhone edition has a separate policy. This Android preview has no account, advertising or app analytics. Your roll, recipes and edits are stored on your device. Optional online features and Android services are described below.

Camera, microphone and selected photos

Camera permission enables photos and short videos. Microphone permission enables sound for video when you choose it. Import uses the Android photo picker or a selected document, rather than broad access to your library. Photos and video are processed on the device. Saving to Photos and sharing are explicit actions. The app does not identify people from faces.

Optional approximate location

When requested, a one-shot approximate location helps suggest nearby palettes. This is processed on the device. No background location permission is declared. Standard rendered photo exports are rebuilt without location metadata. An untouched RAW or imported original can retain its own metadata, so review original files before sharing.

Optional Wikimedia references

Online Sparks is optional and off by default. When enabled, the app requests Wikimedia Commons reference information and a thumbnail. Wikimedia receives ordinary network-request information such as your IP address; the app does not send camera photos or your location with those requests. Creator and licence links remain with each reference. Successful references are refreshed at most once per day, with an older cached reference used for up to seven days when a refresh fails.

Optional on-device AI

On supported devices, Google ML Kit’s Prompt API uses Gemini Nano through AICore for caption or creative-exercise suggestions. Prompts contain recipe information and an optional typed mood, rather than camera images or face data. Model checks and downloads use Google services and may require Internet access. Availability depends on the device and Google services. Offline prompts and manual captions remain available. Google’s handling of its service information follows its own policies.

Storage, exports and deletion

Roll items, recipes and preferences use private app storage. Android cloud backup and device transfer are excluded by the supplied configuration. Remove unwanted roll items in the app; uninstalling removes the private roll and settings. Export anything you want to keep first. Copies deliberately saved or shared remain with the selected destination. Original RAW files should be checked for metadata before sharing.

Support, children and changes

An email or Android share action sends only the content you choose to the destination you select, whose policy also applies. Support messages can include the device and build details you provide. This is a general creative-camera preview, not a service directed at children. Policy changes will be dated here. Contact support@critstudios.com with privacy questions.
